Delhi Metro To Restart As Per Regular Schedule On Weekends

The DMRC issued a statement on January 27 and said that the metro services will resume as per the regular weekend schedule from January 29. After seeing a dip in Covid-19 cases the weekend curfew was lifted. Meanwhile, with 50% capacity restaurants, bars, and cinema halls will be reopened and shops with an odd-even system. However, with 100% seating capacity metro will start without any passengers standing inside the metro.

Govt In Delhi Plans To Lift Weekend Curfew: COVID-19

In view of a decline in number of COVID-19 cases, a proposal to lift weekend curfew has been submitted by the Delhi government to end the "odd even" system for opening of shops and allow private offices to run with 50% capacity. The proposal was sent to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal for his consent, said sources. Notably, the positivity rate in Delhi dipped to 21.48%, as per latest data.

Karnataka Govt Imposes Weekend Curfew Across State

In view of the rising COVID-19 cases, the Karnataka government imposed a weekend curfew across the state, starting from January 5, at 10 am for the next two weeks. It'll start at 10 pm on Friday night and will end at 6 am on Monday. Reportedly, the physical classes for students till class 9 will be closed in Bengaluru. Mall, theatres, and gyms can only operate at 50% capacity.

Delhi Govt Imposes Weekend Curfew; Metro To Operate At 100% Capacity

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) imposed a weekend curfew in the national capital to curb the spread of COVID-19. Meanwhile, nobody will be allowed to travel for non-essential reasons. Moreover, government offices, barring essential services, have been asked to allow their employees to work from home. Private offices can operate at 50% capacity. However, buses and metro can run at 100% seating capacity, as per the order.

UP Govt Allows Malls, Restaurants To Open On Weekdays At 50% capacity

After two months of lockdown and witnessing decline in the cases of COVID-19, the UP government has announced to withdraw certain restrictions. The restaurants and malls can re-open with 50% capacity during weekdays, the government declared. However, the curfew timings have been extended and rescheduled from 7PM to 9PM on the weekdays. Besides, the weekend curfew will continue in the state.

Karnataka: Taxi, Auto Drivers Seek Financial Aid Amid Weekend Curfew

Owing to Karnataka's weekend curfew, which began on April 23 and was followed by a lockdown, taxi and auto drivers in the state have requested the government for a relief package. According to the drivers, the government's last-minute decision about the lockdown has adversely hit their livelihood. Moreover, the driver association urged the government to implement a fixed aid financial scheme for them before taking any more such decisions.
