West Bengal: EC Declines Possibility Of All Phases Election Into One

The Election Commission of India on April 15, put an end to all the speculations of uniting the remaining four phases of assembly elections in West Bengal. The officials stated that polling for the remaining phases will be held as scheduled. Besides, an all-party meeting will be conducted on April 16, conducted by the West Bengal Chief Electoral officer Aariz Aftab. Reportedly, the votes will be counted on May 2.

Bengal CM Mamata Says To Approach EC Over 'Jai Shri Ram' Slogans

Agitated Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has warned to write to the Election Commission after 'Jai Shri Ram' chants were made at her Nandigram rally on March 30. Besides, Mamata again resorted to her 'outsiders' rant and said that "goons" from UP and Bihar are keeping voters away from polling booths. However, the BJP defended the chants saying that raising 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans is not a crime.

TMC Fails Again To Present Election Manifesto On March 14

Ahead of West Bengal assembly polls, the Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) failed again to present the election manifesto that was planned for March 14. Earlier on March 11, TMC refrained from introducing the manifesto following an alleged attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Reportedly, CM Banerjee will also be holding a roadshow on March 14. The state will go for polls in eight phases between March 27-April 29.
