Howrah Ram Navami Violence: BJP-TMC In Blame Game, Demands CBI Inquiry
The Ram Navami violence and communal clash started taking a political turn, amid a blame game of the political parties, the Trinamool Congress and the BJP. While Mamata Banerjee blamed BJP goons to start the violence, the BJP leaders said, Mamata Banerjee-led Government gave clean chit to all the stone pelters in the region. Meanwhile, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari filed a plea and demanded a CBI inquiry into the violence.

Partha Chatterjee Steps Down As Chairman Of Management Institute In WB
Partha Chatterjee, the ex-TMC leader and Education Minister of WB, step down as the President of the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM.) The development came eight months after his arrest by the ED in connection with his alleged involvement in the multi-crore teachers' recruitment scam in the State. Notably, the decision was taken after pressure on the governing body. .

8 Dead After Flash Floods Hit West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri
In West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri, flash floods hit the Mal river, resulting in the death of at least eight persons, informed District magistrate Moumita Godard Basu, on October 5. Of the eight deceased, four were reportedly women. Basu further stated that a search is underway to find out if more casualties have occurred. Meanwhile, the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Kurmi Tribe Protest Enters Day 2 In West Bengal’s Purulia
Protestors belonging to the Kurmi tribe in West Bengal’s Purulia, started a protest on September 20, demanding the status of “Other Backward Class” status to their community. This is powered by assent then president Ram Nath Kovind gave to the states, to identify and specify Socially and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC). Teachers Recruitment Scam: ED Files Complaint Against Partha Chatterjee, Arpita Mukherjee & 6 Others
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on September 20, filed a complaint against eight accused including Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee in the West Bengal Teachers recruitment scam case. CPI Maoist Activist Samrat Chakraborty Arrested By NIA
CPI (Maoist) activist Samrat Chakraborty alias "Nilkamal Sikdar" was arrested in West Bengal in a case related to setting up units of the outlawed group in Assam, confirmed NIA spokesperson on September 20. Chakraborty (37,) a resident of Seth Bagan Road, North 24 Parganas district, was also known as "Amit, Argha, Nirmal and Nirman". He was arrested from Mahispata, near Narayana School for his activities as a Maoist.

North Bengal University VC Arrested By CBI In Teacher Recruitment Scam
North Bengal University Vice Chancellor Subires Bhattacharyya has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in an alleged 2016 assistant teachers’ recruitment scam. The arrest came after CBI invited him to the office in Kolkata and found him “non-cooperative”. Prior to the arrest, the agency also conducted search operations at his residence. Also, the chargesheet has been filed in the matter.

Depression Kills Mother-Son Duo In West Bengal, :Police Registers Case
In West Bengal's Nadia district, two bodies, one of a 34-year-old man Subhadip Mandal and his mother Anju Mandal (65) were found hanging. The suspicious dead bodies were found at their home in Kalyani's B-10 area on September 13, confirmed police on the next day. TMC Leader Raju Sahani Arrested By CBI In Chit Fund Case: West Bengal
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested TMC leader and Halisahar Municipality chairman Raju Sahani in an alleged chit fund case. Reportedly, Rs 80 lakh cash has been seized from his residence in Newton. Furthermore, documents of properties worth Rs 2.75 crore were found, and country-made firearm along with a dozen live catridges were also recovered. Besides, a bank account in Thailand is being traced.

2010 Mangalkot Blast Case: Chargesheet Filed, TMC’s Anubrata Mondal Produced In Court
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’ close aide and senior TMC leader Anubrata Mondal has been produced before the MP/MLA court for his alleged connection in the 2010 Mangalkot blast case.
