Mumbai: Rs 44-Cr Fine Collected From Residents Flouting COVID Norms

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's data has revealed that Mumbai residents have paid Rs 44 crore as fine on account of flouting COVID-19 norms. The fine was collected via combined working of the BMC and Mumbai Police along with railway authorities. Railways Shut 107-Year-Old Billimora-Waghai Heritage Train Service

The Railway ministry has ordered for a permanent closure of the 107-year-old Gujarat’s Billimora-Waghai heritage train, calling it "uneconomic". Started in 1913 by British, 63 Km narrow gauge train service was mainly used by the tribal to carry their vegetables to Billimora. Moreover, the labourers working in chickoo and mango farms of Billimora used this. However, the service has been stopped since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Digitized User Depot Module Introduced Across Western Railway Depots

Indian Railways has introduced digital User Depot Module (UDM) across user depots in Western Railways, on September 28. The UDM has been developed by Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). The Railways Ministry said this system would bring in “transformational change” and the entire supply chain would be digitized. Ministry also opined that it will improve efficiency and transparency to bring customer satisfaction to the system.
