UK Home Secretary Priti Patel Approves Extradition Of Wikileaks' Founder Julian Assange To US

The case of extradition of Julian Assange to US was passed to the UK home secretary. Priti Patel, UK home secretary approved the extradition of Assange. However, Assange's counsel intends on filing a cross-appeal on Patel's order. Julian Assange was charged for alleged violation of the Espionage Act, in 2019 by the US government. Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks, is expected to face 175 years in prison, in US.

Digital Art Auction Mints More Than $52 Million For WikiLeaks Founder Assange

As per reports, An online auction of digital art raised more than $52 million worth of cryptocurrency to help fund WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange's legal defence. The center of attraction of the auction was an NFT artwork, clock, that displays the number of days Assange has been imprisoned. Notably, Assange is battling extradition from Britain to the United States, after he allegedly leaked thousands of secret classified files in 2010.

US To Demand UK HC To Extradite Wikileaks Founder Julian Assange

In the latest development, the United States government has decided to appeal a British Judge to overturn the last decision and extradite Wikileaks founder Julian Assange to the US. In January, UK district Judge Vanessa Baraitser had rejected the extradition request saying Assange's security may be compromised in the US. Notably, Assange is accused of releasing 5,00,000 secret files related to the Afghanistan and Iraq Military campaigns.

Assange Faces Suicide Risk If Extradited to US, His Psychiatrist Claims

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange's psychiatrist, Michael Kopelman, told a British court on September 22, that his client heard “imaginary voices and music” in prison.
