Wildlife Sanctuary

Amid flood-like situations and heavy rainfall, crocodiles allegedly entered residential areas in Vadodara, Gujarat.  Many households in Vadodara complaint of reptiles entering their homes, on July 23, especially residential complexes, in high-rise buildings near the bank ofthe  Vishwamitri river. An adult leopard has been rescued from the Binnaguri Cantonment. The leopard had strayed into the area earlier on May 8, causing alarm among the residents. The cantonment authorities soon alerted forest officials about the presence of the big cat in the area. The leopard was rescued by the officials, and taken to the Lataguri Environmental Observatory, where it would undergo treatment.

Maharashtra's Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve is set to reopen to tourists from October 1 albeit with some restrictions. Reportedly, only six people will be allowed per vehicle that too they have to be asymptomatic. However, the reopening will be subjected to the approval from local authorities and people. Earlier, Karnataka's Nandi Hills and Noida's Okhla Bird Sanctuary were reopened on September 7 and September 15 respectively.
