Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic won Wimbledon women's doubles for the second time on July 10 after defeating top-seeded Elise Mertens and Zhang Shuai. The Czechs defeated No. 1 seeds Mertens and Zhang to win their sixth Grand Slam doubles title. They also took home the Australian Open championship this year, defeating Anna Danilina and Beatriz Haddad Maia in the final.

Novak Djokovic delivered a remarkable return from a setback to beat Great Britain's Cameron Norrie in the Wimbledon semi-finals on July 8. The six-time Wimbledon winner advanced to the final after beating Norrie on Centre Court. Due to an abdominal strain, Spaniard Rafael Nadal was forced to withdraw before his game with Nick Kyrgios in the semi-final. The 35-year-old will play Nick Kyrgios in the final match on July 10. 

Australia's Nick Kyrgios advanced to the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the first time in eight years, defeating American Brandon Nakashima in a riveting five-setter on July 4. After losing the first set, the Australian won and advanced to a match against Chile's Cristian Garin. "First I want to say, a hell of an effort by Brandon, but I fought really hard and I am super happy to get through," Kyrgios said. 

Rafael Nadal won his third Grand Slam championship in a row and was pleased with his performance despite a string of unforced errors. He acknowledged his athletic opponent Francisco Cerundolo for helping to extend the match to four sets. He won his first competitive match on the Wimbledon court in three years. For her first tennis match in over a year, Serena Williams entered the center of the court at Eastbourne to a standing ovation. At the Wimbledon warm-up tournament on England's south coast, supporters cheered the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion's comeback victory. At the women's doubles tournament on June 21, Williams and Ons Jabeur defeated Sara Sorribes Tormo and Marie Bouzkova. "I needed that. It was good,” said Williams.
