Maha Minister Tests COVID Positive After State Legislature's Winter Session

Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has tested positive for COVID-19, on December 28. She attended the winter session of the State Legislative Council on December 27, and also visited Uttar Pradesh recently. She stated that she has "mild symptoms", and has asked those who were in close proximity with her to take precautionary measures. Notably, Gaikwad had contracted the virus for the first time, last year.

Lok Sabha Session Adjourned Till Dec 16 Amid Opposition Uproar

The Winter Lok Sabha session has been adjourned till 11:00 AM, on December 16. The opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi issued adjournment motion, demanding removal of the BJP's Ajay Mishra Teni, the State Home Minister for Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, on December 15, the Lok Sabha session was adjourned twice, at 11:00 AM till noon, later till 2:00 PM.

Congress Leader Moves Adjournment Motion Against Privatisation Of Banking Law

Congress leader Manish Tewari, on December 14, issued an adjournment motion to discuss privatisation in the banking sector in the Lok Sabha. "At least 8 banking unions have called for a strike on December 16 and 17, against government's attempt of privatization in the banking sector", said Tewari. Notably, the Central Government proposed Banking Laws Amendment Bill 2021, which will privatise Indian banks, run by the Government of India.

Odisha Assembly Sine Die Adjourned, 20 Days Ahead Of Schedule

Owing to the ruckus by the opposition MLAs, Odisha Assembly's winter session was adjourned for the indefinite time on December 10. The session was scheduled to end on December 31. Reportedly, the opposition demanded CM Naveen Patnaik's explanation on the Mamita Meher murder case, allegedly involving the Home Minister Dibyashankar Mishra. Meher's dead body, a school teacher, was found by the Odisha police in Kalahandi on October 8.

PM Modi Met Cabinet Ministers To Make Strategy For Parliament's Winter Sessions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 1 held a meeting with senior cabinet leaders in Parliament to discuss strategy for the ongoing winter session. Top leaders such as Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Nitin Gadkari, Prahlad Joshi, and Kiren Rijiju attended the meeting. The winter session of the Parliament commenced on November 29, passing the Farm Laws Repeal Bill 2021. The session is likely to conclude on December 26.

Union Cabinet Approves Bill To Repeal Three Farm Laws

The Union Cabinet approved the bill to repeal the three Farm Laws on November 24. In the upcoming Winter Parliament Session, the BJP government will clear the bill, withdrawing the laws. The decision came six day after PM Narendra Modi announced to repeal the laws on November 19. The Winter Session of Parliament Session is Scheduled to begin from November 29.

CM Mamata Banerjee Set To Visit Delhi Ahead Of Winter Session

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is set to arrive in Delhi on her four-day visit, starting from November 22. Her visit will take place a few days before the parliamentary winter session, which is scheduled to begin on November 29. Earlier in July, she also made a visit to the capital. Meanwhile, she had met PM Narendra Modi, Sonia Gandhi, and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

MP Govt Defers Winter Session After MLAs, Secretariat Staff Test COVID+
