Cricket Scripted History With India's 1st WPL Game

In the world of Cricket, history is being scripted Women’s Premier League (WPL) kicks off in Mumbai on March 4.  The league will begin with Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians playing the first match, it heralds new beginnings for many players, who started their professional journey again. The incident will have 20 play-offs, in the duration of 23 days, will be held till March 26.

India's Shafali Verma Regains No.1 Spot In ICC Rankings

Indian Cricketer Shafali Verma (17) regained the No.1 spot in the International Cricket Council T20I Batting Rankings for Women on January 25, after replacing Australia's Beth Mooney, while India's Smriti Mandana slipped to No.4. Both Shafali and Smriti will appear in New Zealand in the upcoming series on February. Shafali Verma appeared last time in T20I cricket in October 2021, when she was in great form in the Big-Bash League.

India's Smriti Mandhana Named ICC Women's Cricketer Of The Year

Indian cricketer and opener Smriti Mandhana has been named as the ICC Women's Cricketer of the year for her outstanding performance across all formats in 2021. In a statement, ICC said that Mandhana was short-listed for the top award, The Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy along with few other players. Mandhana played a vital role when India won two of the eight matches in the limited-overs series against South Africa.

Indian Cricketer Shefali Verma Scores 96 Runs On Her Test Debut

Shefali Verma, a 17-year-old teenager has won the heart of audience through her massive test debut. However, she scored 152-ball 96, with 13 fours and two sixes in the debut and explained how she stresses upon her contribution in the team. Addressing the champ, India women captain Diana Edulji told, "I don't normally like comparing men and women cricketers, but she is someone in the (Virender) Sehwag mould".

BCCI Issues T20 World Cup Prize Money For Women's Cricket Team

The BCCI has released the prize money for all the 15 members of the women's cricket team for the T20 World Cup played in Australia in 2020 where they finished as a runner-up. BCCI also gave out the match fees for the home series against South Africa played in March 2021. Notably, the board recently made headlines in The Telegraph, UK for delaying player’s payment on various fronts.

Mithali Creates History; First Woman To Score 7,000 ODI Runs

Ace Indian cricketer Mithali Raj has become the first woman to score 7,000 runs in ODIs. The milestone was achieved during the fourth match against South Africa Women on March 14. The leading run-scorer in women's ODIs completed 7,000 runs during her partnership with Punam Raut. Recently, Mithali had created history by becoming the first Indian and second woman globally to score 10,000 runs in international cricket.
