Biden Administration Eases Visa Application For Indian Workers

In a major boost to the Indians, the United States Administration announced ease to visa application for skilled workers. The development came amid the visit of PM Narendra Modi to the USA, on Joe Biden's invitation. On June 22, the Joe Biden administration announced the same with H-1B visa holders, who are now allowed to renew their visas for work in the nation.

20 Workers Hospitalized After Ammonia Leakage Incident In Mangaluru

At least 20 people hospitalized after ammonia leakage reported at a factory in Baikampadi Industrial area, Mangaluru.  The police said, a total of 80 employees work at the Everest sea food private limited food processing company. During the leakage, 20 were affected and are undergoing treatment at a medical college hospital. Incident occurred under Panambur police station, which registered a case.

Chinese Companies Haven't Paid Lao Workers For 6 Years: Report

Workers of the Laos community hired by the Chinese companies did not pay wages for six years.  According to reports, workers were hired by the subcontractor of the Namtha 1 Power Company, on a project to construct homes, health centers, offices, roads, and schools, for the people, displaced due to the construction of a dam. "I built a health center five years ago and still haven't been paid", said a worker.

Union Government To Soon Permit 4-Day A Week Work Policy

The Central Government is likely to enable organisations to allow their employees to work for four days a week. Reportedly, the new provision will provide a weekly work limit of 48 hours with three alternatives: 12-hour working slot for four days, 10-hour working for 5 days, and 8 hours for 6 days. The Centre aims to bring the new provision through the implementation of its newly passes four labour codes.

Pandemic Stricken Disney Calls To Discharge 32,000 Employees In 2021

Due to less foot-fall in its theme parks, Walt Disney announced on November 25 that it would discharge 32,000 employees. The company, in a regulatory filing, has informed that the retrenchment would be in the first half of 2021, primarily targeting the theme park workers.
