China Supports India, S-Africa's Request For IPR Waiver On COVID Jabs
China on May 17 extended its support to India and South Africa by temporarily waiving the Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) for COVID-19 vaccines. The Chinese foreign ministry said China understands the situation and supports the request made to WTO. Earlier, India and South Africa had sought the same from WTO in October 2020 so that developing countries could get access to the vaccines as soon as possible.
