Writers Hold Discussion Over Bengali Literature On Its Relevance In Social Media Era

During the Kolkata Literature Festival, several authors and writers discussed the relevance of Bengali literature in the age of social media. One of the poets Srijato Bandyopadhyaya said, "Covid-19 and news of deaths in the past two years have made us aware about the futility of the long term plans." Another writer Pracheto Gupta stated, "populism is no yardstick for determining the relevance of a creative piece of work".

Kannada Lexicographer-Writer Ganjam Venkatasubbaiah Passes Away

Noted kannada writer-lexicographer Ganjam Venkatasubbaiah has died at 107 in Bengaluru on April 19. Venkatasubbaiah was considered a walking encyclopedia of kannada lanaguage and culture, and was awarded with the Kannada Sahitya Akademi award and the Pampa award. Moreover, he had compiled 12 dictionaries and edited over 24 literary works including poetry, grammar and essays. He had also edited over 60 books and published numerous papers.
