Yair Lapid Officially Becomes 14th President Of Israel
Yair Lapid has become the 14th president of Israel, on July 1. Lapid's term will extend till a new president is elected, with Israel's elections having been scheduled on November 1. "We'll do the best we can for a Jewish, democratic state," said Lapid. US president Joe Biden congratulated Lapid and extended thanks to Naftali Bennett, for "friendship over the past year".
