Shiv Sena Demands Ban On Loudspeakers In Mosques
Citing noise pollution as reason, Maharashtra's ruling party Shiv Sena has asked the Centre to ban the use of loudspeakers in mosques. The demand surfaced in an editorial piece of "Saamana". The demand came in the backdrop of a Shiv Sena leader's suggestion for organising an Azaan recital competition. The editorial also justified the leader's comment while stating that the suggestion aimed at avoiding crowds at mosques by holding competition digitally.
