Costing $2.8 Bn, India Tops Global List Of Internet Shutdowns
The Global Cost of Internet Shutdowns Report by UK-based firm Top10VPN has revealed that India accounted for nearly three-fourth of the worldwide internet curbs. Restricting internet use for 8,927 hours, the shutdown cost India $2.8 billion in 2020. Besides, India topped the list of 21 countries in terms of internet curbs. Reportedly, the calculation of the cost was done by using indicators from the World Bank, the International Telecommunication Union, and Freedom Law Centre.
