Sikkim: Govt Directs Inclusion Of 11 Vernacular Languages In Syllabus
Schools in Sikkim shall introduce 11 vernacular languages for students to choose as their second language in their syllabus from the new academic session. Currently, government-run schools offer languages like Bhutia, Nepali, Lepcha, etc. Besides, the State government has directed private schools to ensure the inclusion of 11 local languages. Reportedly, the first language English would be the medium of instruction, and Hindi will be considered as the third language.
