China Alters Hong Kong's Constitution, Passes Controversial Reforms
Altering the Basic Law of Hong Kong's mini constitution, Beijing has approved a slew of controversial reforms that will tighten the Chinese control over Hong Kong. Touted as "Patriot" reforms, the new rules aim to ensure that only China's loyalists can head the positions of power. Reportedly, it can also weed out the legislators critical of the Chinese government. Meanwhile, the move has drawn flak from experts as well as from international leaders.
