India's Tour Of Australia: Injured Rohit Loses Spot, Rahul Gets Vice-captaincy
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on October 27 announced the Virat Kohli-led Indian contingent for the Australian tour in late November. India will play three ODIs, three T20s and four Tests, starting from November 27. Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma fell short of a spot in all the formats due to a hamstring injury. IPL's man-in-form, KL Rahul has been appointed as vice-captain for T20s and ODIs, whereas Ajinkya Rahane will co-lead the squad for Tests. India's pacers - Ishant Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar - will also miss the tour due to injuries. However, the board said that it will keep a track on their recovery. While new face CV Varun got a place in the T20 squad, Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj secured a berth in the Test squad. Four additional bowlers - Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kartik Tyagi, Ishan Porel and T. Natarajan - will also travel with the squad.
