Apple To Lose Billions After Removing Its 30% Cut In-app Purchases

US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers on September 11 ruled that Apple must provide an option for developers to avoid its commission that is about 30% on in-app purchases. Reportedly, the ruling could cause it a loss of a few billion dollars, seeing the company had earned around $6.3 billion in 2020 in the US through commissions. However, Apple will discuss the change with the judge and developers before implementing it.

Apple Cut Off WordPress App Updates Until In-App Purchases Added: WordPress CEO

WordPress for IOS was finally updated after a month, and CEO Matt Mullenweg stated that Apple had blocked them from rolling out new updates, as the app didn't have in-app purchases. The in-app purchases option leads to Apple gaining a 30 percent share of revenue WordPress makes from the purchases. "We were locked by App Store. To be able to ship updates we had to commit to support in-app purchases," Mullenweg Tweeted.
