Mahindra XUV700 Outsells Tata Harrier & Safari Combined
Mahindra sold 6,022 vehicles of XUV700 in the Indian auto market in June of this year. It is available in both 5- and 7-seat versions, enabling it to compete with both Tata Safari and Harrier. However, Mahindra's SUV has outsold the Safari and Harrier combined in terms of sales. Tata Motors only sold 3,015 Harrier and 1,86 Safari vehicles in June of this year, for a total of 4,884 vehicles.

Kia India: Two Lakh SUV Seltos Model Sold Since 2019
South Korean auto manufacturer Kia on August 20 notified that it has sold two lakh units of its flagship SUV brand Seltos in India since its debut in 2019. "While 58% of Seltos sales came from its top variants, the automatic options of the vehicle contributed to more than 35%. Diesel powertrains accounted for 45% of the overall sales of the SUV," the company said. Seltos alone contributed to 66% of total Kia sales in India.

'Droom' Raises $200 Mn From Funding, Becomes India's 17th Unicorn
Online automobile startup "Droom" has raised $200 million in pre-IPO funding, taking its valuation to $1.2 billion and registering itself as India's 17th unicorn company. Investors like "57 Stars" and "Seven Train Ventures", participated in the fund-raiser along with others. The company said that it will use the fund to grow its market all over Indian cities and to international markets eventually.

Separate Subsidiary For EVs Worth Rs 100 Cr Proposed: Bajaj Auto
In a race to win the Electric Vehicles (EV) space in the market, Bajaj Auto, India's leading two-wheeler manufacturer and exporter is planning to set up a fully-owned subsidiary in the electric and hybrid two-wheeler, three-wheeler, and light four-wheeler categories. It will propose an authorized capital of Rs 100 crore, the company said. The name of the entity and approval from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs is still pending.

Maruti Suzuki To Increase Car Prices From April; 2nd Since Jan'21
India's popular carmaker Maruti Suzuki will increase the prices of different car models from April. The move marks the second price increase since last January when the company increased prices for some models. Reportedly, the company has been hit by an increase in various input costs due to which a price increase has been issued. However, Maruti reported a 26% increase in net profit for the December quarter due to increased sales.
