New Economic Survey Suggests Increased Public Healthcare Expenditure
The economic survey 2020-2021 has suggested an increase in public spending on healthcare services from the current (1%) to 2.5 to 3% of GDP. Besides, it cited that increased government expenditure can reduce the out-of-pocket expenditure from 65% to 30% of overall health care spending which is the highest in the world. Besides, it advised that the health structure must be agile to enable India to respond to pandemics whenever necessary.
