Bees Kill 63 Critically Endangered African Penguins: Cape Town

A Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds reported on September 19, that a swarm of bees killed 63 Critically Endangered African Penguins on a west beach of Cape Town, SA. "After tests, we found bee stings around the penguins' eyes," clinical veterinarian David Roberts said. The ICUN designated species were found dead on September 17 in Simonstown. However, the Cape honey bees are an integral element of the ecosystem.
