UK Gets Pfizer Consignment; Queen To Receive COVID Vaccine First

Britain's Queen Elizabeth (94) and Prince Philip (99) will probably be among the first people to get shots of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. The British authorities are planning to inoculate people above 80 years of age on priority. Moreover, the first batch of 800,000 Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines has reached the UK from Belgium. Also, it is believed that vaccinating the leading figures will alleviate the ongoing anti-vaccine sentiments.

Belgium: COVID Positive Doctors Treat Patients To Support Medical System

Belgian Association of Medical Union's chief Dr Philippe Devos stated that they have requested COVID-19 positive doctors to treat patients to prevent the collapse of medical system. Three European Countries Jointly Apply To Host 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup

For the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, a consortium of three countries - Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany - has applied to be the host. By the end of 2020, the consortium will produce official documents detailing the plans to the sport regulator FIFA. Reportedly, the countries have selected slogan “Three Nations, One Goal" for the collaboration. The 2023 edition will be hosted by New Zealand and Australia.

COVID-19 in Belgium: Government Announces Night Curfew and Other Restrictions

Due to an alarming rise in the COVID-19 cases, the Belgium Government announced new restrictions on October 16. The cafes, restaurants, and bars will be shut for over a month and the sale of alcohol will not be allowed after 8 PM. Also, a night curfew has been imposed from midnight till 5 AM. The new restrictions are to be imposed from October 19.

Belgium: Alexander De Croo to Take Charge As Prime Minister

Alexander De Croo will take charge as the Prime Minister of Belgium on October 1, about 21 months after the former government collapsed. Reportedly, leaders from seven coalition parties met on September 30 and chose De Croo to lead the government. Paul Magnette, one of the leaders in the coalition said, "We flipped a coin and it came down to Alexander and it's an excellent choice."
