Filipino-Born Company Turns Plastic Bottles Into Bottle Lights
Liter of Light - a company in the Philippines - has recycled plastic bottles by turning them into lights that do not need electricity. The company had successfully installed about 3,50,000 bottle lights in more than 15 countries. The lights were made out of plastic bottles, water, galvanized steel, and bleach. These easy to maintain bottle lights produce the same light as a 50W incandescent bulb and could be installed anywhere.

Oct 2020's Power Consumption Expected To Surpass Oct 2019's Mark
According to the government's data, October 2020's power consumption is expected to surpass the consumption amount of October 2019, which was 97.84 billion units. The data stated that current consumption for October 1-15 stood at 55.37 billion units (BU) as against the 49.67 BU for the corresponding period in 2019. Reportedly, the consumption was much low since the lockdown, but started gaining momentum after the 'unlock' began.

Andhra Pradesh: Farmers to Get Power Subsidies Via Direct Cash Transfer
Andhra Pradesh government on September 10 has decided to provide nine-hour free power supply to farmers via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) route. The state government stated that it will pay the power charges to the farmers who will, in turn, pay the power distribution companies. The government also notified that the farmers will not have to pay any charges: Neither for installation of smart meters nor for DBT scheme.
