Indian Govt To Invite Applications From Firms For Ethanol Projects
The Indian government on April 22, stated that it has decided to invite applications from firms for ethanol projects. The firms that have acquired land for ethanol projects, obtained environmental clearance to set up new distilleries or expansion of existing distilleries, are eligible for the government projects. The government is also planning to enhance the nation's ethanol production capacities and to achieve 20% blending by 2025.

Bihar Becomes First State To Introduce Ethanol Promotion Policy
The Bihar government on March 17 approved the Ethanol Promotion Policy in the state. Becoming the first state to implement such policy, it encourages investors to make ethanol directly from maize, molasses, broken rice and rotten grains with 15% government subsidy. Government Increases Ethanol Price By Upto Rs 3.34/Litre
The government has increased the sugarcane-extracted ethanol price by upto Rs 3.34 per litre, effective from December 2020 as oil-marketing companies are eyeing to procure 465 crore litres of eco-friendly ethanol for 2020-21.
