Famous south Indian singer Sangeetha Sajith passed away at the age of 46, on May 22, in Thiruvananthapuram. 4 Daughters Break Barriers, Perform Last Rites Of Mother: Odisha

In Odisha, four daughters set an example by performing the last rites of their mother after their brothers didn't turn up for the funeral. The incident was reported from the Mangalaghat area in Puri where Jati Nayak, an octogenarian passed away on January 2. The four daughters carried their mother's body for 4 km to reach the cremation ground. Our brothers neglected our mother," said Sitamani Sahu.

Late Kannada Actor Puneeth Rajkumar's Funeral Performed In Bengaluru

Late Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar's death rituals were held with state honors at Sree Kanteerava Studios in Bengaluru on October 31. Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai, along with a large number of admirers were present to pay their tribute to the late actor. Following his acting debut in 2002 "Appu," the 46-year-old actor starred in 29 films, the most recent being "Yuvarathnaa." However, Puneeth perished due to a heart attack.

8 Dead, 15 Wounded In Shootout At Funeral In Pakistan

In a shocking incident, eight people succumbed to their injuries and 15 got injured in a shootout at a funeral ceremony in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, said media reports on late September 16. Following the shootout, all injured persons were rushed to hospital where 10 were reported in critical condition. Reportedly, the shootout between two groups of people at the ceremony occurred over a land dispute.

K'taka Village Sealed As Hundreds Gather For Divine Horse's Cremation

In a strange incident, a Karnataka village named Maradimath has been sealed after a huge crowd gathered on May 22 to attend the funeral of a horse. The horse, associated with the Kada Siddheshwara mutt, was believed to be a 'divine' one. Interestingly, it was set free in the village days before its death to drive away COVID-19. Now the village residents will have to undergo several tests including COVID-19.

Maharashtra: COVID Positive Woman Assumed To Be Dead Comes Alive At Funeral

A 76-year-old COVID-positive woman in Baramati who was being cremated, came alive during the last moments of her ceremony on May 15. The woman identified as Shakuntala Gaikwad, fainted in the car while waiting for the bed at a COVID facility on May 10. Assuming she was dead, the family had organised last rites ceremony, where she started crying on the bier and was shifted to the hospital.
