Switzerland Green Activists Shed Light on the Melting of Trient Glacier

Over 200 eco-activists on September 6 gathered at Switzerland's Trient glacier to create awareness about melting of glaciers in the Alps region. The gathering happened a day prior to the Swiss Parliament's deliberation on curbing CO2 emissions. Activists expressed concerns over the rate at which glaciers were melting for the past 30-40 years. Greta Thunberg Supports Postponing of JEE, NEET; Says, It's Unfair

Climate activist Greta Thunberg, has extended her support to postpone the JEE, NEET exams in view of the Coronavirus pandemic and flooding in several states. She took to Twitter on August 25, calling the exams, to be held in September, “deeply unfair” to the students. “I stand with their call to #PostponeJEE_NEET in COVID,” she wrote. However, Supreme Court has quashed all petitions against the exams saying, “life cannot be stopped”.

Greta Thunberg Urges German Chancellor to Declare Climate Emergency

Environmental activist and two-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee Greta Thuberg met with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel on August 20. She urged the leader to declare a climate emergency. "Everyone blames one another. Someone needs to break that cycle, "said Greta, who also delivered a letter with 125,000 signatures to Merkel. Greta later at a press conference stated that, “We want leaders to step up and treat this as an emergency".
