NASA's Hubble Space Telescope Discovers Water Vapor On Jupiter's Moon

The astronomers for the first time by using new and archived datasets from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope have discovered evidence of water vapor in Jupiter's moon's atmosphere, Ganymede. The water vapor was likely to have formed due to sublimation, turning solid ice into gas. Ganymede is the largest moon in our solar system and research suggests that it may contain more water than all of Earth's oceans together.

Oldest Hubble Telescope Revives Its Service

Hubble Space Telescope which is regarded as one of the oldest working telescopes revived its service again on July 16. Following a computer glitch, the telescope crashed for a month. NASA realised that the power control unit (PCU) which comes under Science Instrument Command and Data Handling (SIC&DH) unit was the main source of the problem. “Hubble is back!” said Tom Brown, head of the Hubble mission office.

NASA Finds Exoplanet Which Gained 2nd Atmosphere After Losing 1st

NASA's Hubble telescope has discovered exoplanet GJ 1132b, about 41 lightyears away, that lost one atmosphere but gained secondary one. As per NASA, the exoplanet was born with atmosphere rich in hydrogen and helium, but got eroded due to intense radiation from the stars that it revolves around. However, scientists have now identified another atmosphere on the exoplanet containing hydrogen, methane, ammonia and hydrogen cyanide. They credited… read-more
