Indian Railways Doubles Maximum Number Of Ticket Limit Booked Per User ID

The Indian Railways has doubled the number of tickets that can be booked per user ID through the IRCTC app and website. With this, users whose accounts aren't linked to their Aadhar, can book up to 12 tickets a month, compared to the earlier six tickets a month. Meanwhile, users whose accounts are linked to their Aadhar can book 24 tickets a month, compared to the earlier 12 a month.

Indian Railways Cancelled 6,995 Trains For Maintenance Work; 1,934 For Coal Transportation

No More Heavy Luggage Allowed In Trains, Imposes Hefty Penalty: IRCTC

In order to keep Indian passengers' luggage in check, the IRCTC issued a circular with a warning of a hefty fine over excess luggage in train compartments. Recently, the Railway Ministry said, "Do not carry excess luggage while traveling by train". The luggage limit for passengers is, 40kgs in sleeper class, 50 kgs in AC-I Tier, and 70 kgs for maximum depending upon coaches.

Kota Man Gets Rs 35 Refund, Helps 2.98 Lakh Users From IRCTC

Kota-bases Sujeet Swami won a battle against IRCTC and got a refund of Rs 35 after five years of struggle.  On May 31, Swami tweeted, "My repeated tweets to demand the refund, tagging the PM, Railway minister, Union minister Anurag Thakur, GST Council and the Finance minister played key roles in the approval of refund of Rs 35 to 2.98 lakh users". Notably, the Indian Railways approved Rs 2.43 crore.

Profit For Indian Railway Finance Corporation Increases By 37.90% In 2021-22

The external financing arm of Indian Railways, Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited (IRFC), reported a 37.90% increase in profit after tax to Rs 6,090 crore in 2021-22 on May 20. The company's profit after tax for the previous fiscal year was 4,416 crore. As of March 31, 2022, the company's assets under management were €4,15,238 crore, representing a 15.32% increase.

RailTel Gets Awarded For Converged Communication System: SW Railway

RailTel Corporation of India Limited has been awarded the work of implementing a converged communication system. The company has implemented the system in over 230 stations in the South Western Railway zone valued at Rs 107.44 crore. Furthermore, RailTel is Public Service Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Railways. The company was selected for this project through an open tender bidding process.

Northern Railway Zone Creates New 'Baby Berth' In Trains

The Lucknow division of the Northern Railway Zone has created a special arrangement with a lower berth, especially for the children in the lower berth. Lucknow division in an engineering marvel added an extra small berth named 'baby berth'. The Railway will also provide a stopper for security measures next to the berth so that children do not fall down.
