"Extended Range Prediction System (ERPS) is projecting a dismal outlook for the next four weeks, until July 6," said the agency. The southwest monsoon reached Kerala on June 8, a week after the usual date of June 1 and is expected to reach other regions.

Southwest Monsoon Onset In Kerala On June 8, IMD
The southwest monsoon hit India on June 8, with its onset over Kerala, a week later than normal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced. The Meteorologists earlier said Cyclone 'Biparjoy' had been impacting the intensity of the monsoon and that its onset over Kerala would be "mild". In a statement, the IMD said, "The southwest monsoon has set in over Kerala today, June 8."

IMD Issues Cyclone Mocha Alert Forming Over Bay Of Bengal
A cyclone named "Mocha" is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal, causing heavy to very heavy rainfall and cyclonic thunderstorm in West Bengal. In addition, Odisha has been put on alert, confirmed the Indian Meteorological Department.
