Govt Nods To Underwater Optic Fibre Scheme To Deliver E-Gov Services

The Cabinet has approved to lay underwater optical fibre network between Kochi and Lakshadweep Islands to improve the doorstep delivery of e-Governance services. Spicejet Seaplane For Travels Between Ahmedabad to Statue of Unity Reaches Kochi

The Twin Otter 300 seaplane, leased by SpiceJet, touched Kerala's Kochi Venduruthy channel for refuelling from Maldives on October 25. The one-of-its-kind aircraft will operate between Sabarmati riverfront and Statue of Unity in Gujarat. According to Union Minister of State for Shipping Mansukh Mandaviya, the 19-seater aircraft will begin operations from October 31and it will carry 12 passengers at a time.

Kerala: Glider Crashes During Training Session; Two Navy Officers Die

A training glider was crashed down in Kochi on October 4 that killed two Navy officers. The crash is said to have taken place near Thoppumpady bridge in Kochi at around 7 AM during a "training sortie". Reportedly, the officers - Lt Rajeev Jha and Petty Officer Sunil Kumar - who were the in glider at the time of accident, were injured fatally and were declared brought dead at hospital.

Kerala: Final Stretch of Phase 1 of Kochi Metro Completed

Amid the COVID-19 fear, the final stretch of the phase-1 of the Kochi metro was inaugurated on September 7 by the Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan through a video conference. The final stretch extends from Thykoodam to Petta. Reportedly, phase-1 of the Kochi metro has cost about Rs 6,218 crore. Also, the walls at Petta station pay tribute to the fishermen community for their life-saving contributions during the 2018 Kerala floods.
