BJP Elects N Biren Singh As Manipur CM For 2nd Term

N Biren Singh has been named as the BJP CM of Manipur, for a second term. On March 20, unanimously. Union FM Nirmala Sitharaman visited Manipur, on behalf of the Central Government and ensured stable government under the leadership of the BJP.  "It is a good decision taken unanimously by everyone," said Sitharaman. Notably, the BJP won Manipur Assembly elections 2022 by winning 32 of 60 Assembly seats.

Manipur Assembly Elections, 13 Candidates In Fray For 38 MLA Seats

polling for 2022 Manipur Assembly elections for 38 MLA seats are underway, on February 28. The first-phase of Manipur elections, started at 7:00 am, and will continue till 4:00 pm. A total of 173 candidates of BJP, Congress and other parties are in fray and 12 lakh voters are eligible to vote. Furthermore, 11.68% voters turnout was recorded till 9 am. Notably, the second-phase Manipur elections are on March 5.

2 Killed, 5 Injured In A Blast Ahead Of Manipur Assembly Elections

Ahead of the first-phase Manipur assembly elections, a bomb blast was reported in the Churachandpur district of the state, on February 26th evening. The blast claimed the lives of two people, including a 6-year-old child, and injured five others. Notably, Manipur police have found one fin unit of a mortar shell and some splinters at the explosion site, denying any terrorist activity.

BJP Releases Party Manifesto For Manipur Elections With Freebies & AIIMS

BJP on February 16, released the party manifesto for Manipur Assembly elections, scheduled on February 28 and March 5. The manifesto promises scooty to college going meritorious girls, incentives of Rs 25,000 to EWS girls, LPG cylinders to Ujjwal beneficiaries, focuses on protection of territorial integrity of Manipur, laptops to students. It also includes pension for senior citizens from Rs 200 to Rs 1,000 and AIIMS in Manipur.

Congress Releases List Of 30 Star Campaigners For Manipur Assembly Elections

Ahead of the Manipur Assembly elections, Congress released list of campaigners in the State. The star campaigners include Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, Okram Ibobi Singh, Kanhaiya Kumar and others. Notably, Congress is contesting in 54 seats of 60 total seats, whereas the remaining seats have been left for alliance parties. The Manipur Assembly elections are scheduled in two-phases, on February 28 and March 5.
