US Colorado Governor Declares State Of Emergency Amid Grass Fire

Governor Jared Polis of the US, State of Colorado declared an emergency, due to fast-moving grass fires by high winds across the Front Range, on December 30.  Evacuation was ordered for two Colorado cities as hundreds of homes had already burnt in the Denver area, the Hill. Earthquake Of Magnitude 6 Hits US' Alaska Coast

The US Geological Survey said that an earthquake measuring magnitude 6 on the Richter scale struck the coast of Alaska, on December 21. The epicentre of the quake was recorded 61 kilometers east of the city of Port Alsworth. However, it occurred at a depth of 1,526 km from the surface. So far, any death and damage to property have not been reported.

White House Staff Member Tests Covid-19 Positive, Contacted President Biden

A White House employee who contacted President Joe Biden on December 17, tested positive for COVID-19. He had spent 30 minutes in proximity to the President on Air Force One, cofirmed the White House spokesperson Jen Psaki, on December 20. Amazon warehouse building collapses due to a tornado in the US' Edwardsville of Illinois, leaving as many as six people dead. Omicron May Change The Course Of Pandemic: WHO Chief

The World Health Organization (WHO) cautioned countries against Covid-19's new variant Omicron, stating that it will "change the course of pandemic." Tedros Adhanam Ghebreyesus, the WHO Chief, on December 8, asked to fasten vaccination process and said, "This virus is changing, our collective resolve must not." The WHO in a media brief said, although Omicron showed milder symptoms, it is too early to be definite about the new mutant.
