Australia's Victoria To Host 2026 Commonwealth Games

It has been announced that the Australian state of Victoria would be hosting the 2026 Commonwealth Games. It is a word-first, as no other state has had the honour of hosting the event so far in history. The opening ceremony is slated to be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which has a capacity of hosting over 100,000 spectators. The sports would be held outside the capital, Melbourne.

Australian Open 2021 Shifted To February 2021; Guidelines Released

The 2021 Australian Open Tennis tournament will be held from February 8 to 21, which is three weeks delayed from the original schedule. Reportedly, the Victorian government has agreed to allow players to train outside their hotel rooms. However, a mandatory COVID negative report and two-week quarantine from January 15 are required for the same. Post quarantine, the players will be allowed to move around the city as well.
