Chess Player Koneru Humpy Wins BBC Indian Sportswoman Of Year Award
Indian chess prodigy in rapid format, Koneru Humpy won the second edition of the BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year award on March 8. The nominees included wrestler Vinesh Phogat, sprinter Dutee Chand, shooter Manu Bhaker and Indian hockey team skipper Rani Rampal. Winning the award, Humpy said, "I hope, the game will draw people's attention." Athlete Anju Bobby George and Manu Bhaker won the Lifetime Achievement Award and Emerging Player of Year award respectively.
