WHO Malaria Report: India Shows Significant Drop Of Cases In Last 20 Years
WHO's recent World Malaria Report 2020 has shown that India has recorded a significant drop in malaria cases during 2000-19 among the south-east Asian countries. Reportedly, the count fell to 5.6 million in 2019 from 20 million cases in 2000. The report has shown a decline in malarial deaths from 29,500 (2000) to 7700 (2019). However, India still accounts for 88% cases and reports 86% malarial deaths in the region.
