Scania Admits Bribery For Indian Contracts; Indian Minister Involved
Investigations by news outlets have revealed that the Swedish automaker Scania's employees paid bribes to win bus contracts in seven Indian states during 2013-2016. Reportedly, the company had falsified truck models with fake chassis numbers and license plate and earned nearly $11.8 million by selling them to an Indian mining company. The investigative report by Swedish news channel SVT had revealed the involvement of an Indian Minister.

CBI Busts Senior Railway Official From Assam In 1 Crore Bribery Case
Central Bureau of Investigation arrested Indian Railways Engineering Services senior official Mahender Singh Chauhan who was posted at NFR's Assam headquarters on January 17. Punjab Vigilance Bureau Arrests Two For Demanding Bribe
Following a complaint by a villager, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested a Municipal Corporation inspector, Sunil Kumar Gulati, in Patiala for demanding and accepting Rs 25,000 as bribe. According to the reports, Sunil had demanded the complainant to for a bribe to obtain permission to have a side-door for his shop. Reportedly, the inspector's middle man, Rakesh Behal has also been arrested and further investigation is underway.

Bengaluru: Tahsildar Takes Bribe; Arrested By Anti-Corruption Bureau
Three people, including the Bengaluru South tahsildar, were held for taking bribe of Rs 7 lakh to transfer the land to the children of the deceased owner. A complaint in this regard was filed to the subdivisional magistrate by a man who purchased two acres of land. Reportedly, the complainant (now deceased) had found discrepancies in property documents. Anti Corruption Bureau officers informed that they have traced the bribe money.
