Indian Air Force Receives 57,000 Applications For Agnipath Scheme Despite Widespread Protests
The Indian Air Force on June 27, recieved 57,000 applications for enrollment into the Agnipath scheme. Meanwhile, Congress party staged 'Satyagraha' at 3,500 assembly headquarters. Congress party also submitted a memorandum to PM Modi urging him to withdraw the Agnipath scheme. The Agnipath scheme is a defence services recruitment process implemented by the centre, which immediately received criticsm and was welcomed by some.

Air Marshal S Prabhakaran Takes Over As IAF Western Air Command
Air Marshal S Prabhakaran took charges as the Indian Air Force (IAF) Western Command, on March 1, in Delhi. Prabhakaran joined the IAF as fighter pilot in 1983, following which he held various positions like Directing Staff as DSSC, Commandant of the College of Air Warfare and Assistant Chief of Air Staff Intelligence, in service of 38 years. He also won Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vayu Sena Medal.

PM Modi Asks Air Force To Join 'Operation Ganga' To Evacuate Indians In Ukraine
PM Narendra Modi asked the Indian Air Force (IAF) to join 'Operation Ganga' to evacuate Indian nationals in Ukraine, amid the ongoing invasion. Modi, on March 1, said, the IAF's aircraft would be more efficient evacuating more people in a short time. Furthermore, the IAF is to send C-17 aircrafts to rescue Indians, from March 1. Meanwhile, Air Indian flights are operating special flights to bring Indians back safely.

CM Adityanath Salutes Bravery Of IAF Troops On 3rd Anniversary Of Balakot Airstrike
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on February 26, saluted the courage of Indian Air Force soldiers on the third anniversary of the Balakot airstrikes. "This valor of our soldiers is that indelible blow on the chest of the terrorists living on enemy soil, which will always be remembered with pride," tweeted CM Adityanath. On February 26, 2019, the Indian Army launched an airstrike on Pakistan and destroyed the JeM camp.

3 More Rafale Jets Delivered To India: Union Govt
Three more rafale fighter jets arrived in India, confirmed Indian Government on February 23. The fighter jets from France, landed in India on February 22 evening. With this, the deal of 36 fighter jets worth Rs 60,000 crore is close to being completed. Notably, only one aircraft of the 36 is now left to be inducted in the Indian Air Force, which is expected to land in India by March-April.

Indian Army's Aircraft Crashes At Gaya Training Academy, No Casualties Reported
An Indian Army aircraft crashed in Bihar's Gaya Training Academy, on January 28. Notably, the crash took place minutes after the take off, informed the Indian Air Force. "An aircraft of Indian Army's Officer's Training Academy in Gaya, Bihar, today crashed soon after taking off during training," said official. Notably, two pilots survived the crash. Earlier, an Indian Army Chopper crashed in Tamil Nadu, killing General Bipin Rawat.

Shivani Singh, India's 1st Female Fighter Jet Pilot Participates In R-Day Celebration
On the occasion of 73rd Republic Day, Shivani Singh, India's first Rafale Jet fighter participated in the Indian Air Force (IAF) Tableau. With this, Shivani Singh became the second Indian female pilot to perform with the IAF Tableau on Republic Day. Singh joined the IAF in 2017 and was based at Punjab's Ambala based IAF's Golden Arrows Squadron. Notably, IAF Tableau was themed on "Indian Airforce transforming for the future".

IAF Inquiry Team Gives Presentation On Dec 8 IAF Chopper Crash Incident To Rajnath Singh
The IAF tri services inquiry team, investigating the December 8 chopper crash, gave a detailed presentation to the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. On January 5, the team mentioned chopper flying at low altitude amid thick cloud emergence, could be a major reason of crash. In addition, the team also suggested some revised SoP for choppers along with flying team to be mix of "master green" and other category pilots.

IAF Aircraft Crashes In Madhya Pradesh's Bhind; Pilot Evacuates Safely
Officials reported an Indian Air Force (IAF) plane crashed in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind area on October 21. Bhind Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Singh said that the pilot evacuated safely before the plane crashed in Mankabagh town in the district. After the accident, the plane caught fire. "An IAF Mirage 2000 aircraft experienced a technical malfunction during a training sortie in the central sector this morning," the IAF tweeted.
