Chinese Army informed that they have found Miran Taron, a 17-year-old missing boy from Arunachal Pradesh. On January 23, Harshvardhan Pandey, the Tezpur PRO defence said, "Chinese Army has communicated to us that they have found a missing boy from Arunachal Pradesh." Furthermore, the procedure of Taron's return is underway. Notably, Taron went missing on January, after being allegedly abducted by Chinese troops.

The Republic Day parade is set to begin 30 minutes late, from scheduled 10:00 am, on January 26. This will be the first time that the parade will begin late, amid COVID-19 restrictions and homage paid to security personnel who lost lives in Jammu and Kashmir on duty, said an official. India-China conducted the 14th round of talks over the stand-off dispute at the LAC in Eastern Ladakh, on January 12. Held after a gap of three months, the two nations discussed disengagement in Hot Spring areas. The military talks were held between Lt. Gen Anindya Sengupta, the Commander of Leh Based 14 Corps and Chinese official Maj Gen Yang Lin. Notably, October's 13th round meeting ended in a stalemate.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh tested positive for COVID-19. On January 10, he took to Twitter and posted, "I have tested positive with Corona today with mild symptoms. I am under home quarantine. I request everyone who have recently come in my contact to isolate themselves and get tested". Notably, Mr. Rajnath Singh recently held a virtual meeting and announced 100 sainik schools, providing opportunity for girls to join army.
Ahead of the Goa Assembly elections, BJP leader Michael Lobo resigned from the Cabinet Ministry of Goa. On January 10, Lobo submitted his resignation to the Chief Minister's office and Goa Speaker. Border Road Organisation (BRO) opened second highest motorable road, on January 6. The BRO cleared the snowy road, passing through Khardung La, going towards Pakistan and China border. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been postponed, said official government sources. PM Modi was scheduled to visit the UAE on January 6, 2022, to meet political leaders in the country. However, the business trip has been postponed, expectedly due to rising Omicron concerns.
