Pfizer And AstraZeneca Prove To Be More Than 90% Effective Against Delta Variant

Analysis of the Public Health England stated that Pfizer is 96% effective and AstraZeneca is 92% effective against hospitalisation from the Delta variant of COVID-19 on June 14. They also stated the necessity of getting the second dose on time for the complete effectiveness of the vaccines. These percentages are comparable with vaccine effectiveness against hospitalisation from the Alpha variant, which was first identified in the UK.

UK Reports 2,300+ COVID-19 Cases Of Indian Strain In 86 Districts

UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock on May 17 warned the people of the highly transmissible Indian COVID-19 strain B.1617.2 found in 86 districts. Requesting the citizens to stay at home and be cautious while meeting friends indoors, Hancock stated that 2,323 cases have been identified across the UK. Appealing people to get vaccinated, Hancock said lax behaviour against the new strains can jeopardise the advances we’ve made”.

Indonesia Detects Indian COVID-19 Variant; Bans Public Gathering On Eid

The Indonesian authorities have raised an alarm after they recorded first case of ‘B.1.617’ COVID-19 variant first detected in India.
