France: Boat Carrying Migrants Sinks; Four People Including 2 Children Die
At least four people have died after a boat carrying 20 migrants capsized off the coast of Loon-Plage near Dunkirk, northern France. The deceased, including one man, one woman and two children, are Iran-based migrants. Besides, some of the people rescued have suffered cardiac arrest and hypothermia. UK Faces Record Number of Migrant Crossings In September
The United Kingdom has recorded nearly 1880 migrants reaching its land in September, almost equal to the number that arrived in the whole of 2019. Authorities stated that the favorable warm weather and calm seas in the English channel led to a surge in the numbers. Usually, migrants take the northern France border route, through trucks or ferries. However due to COVID-19 restrictions, they sailed in small boats arranged by smugglers.
