Stockholm Institute Ranks India As 3rd Most Military Spending Nation
The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute ranked India as the third-largest military spender in the world in 2020, after the US and China. With total military expenditure of $72.9 billion in 2020, India clocked 3.7% of the global military expenditure. Meanwhile, the top two countries US and China spent 39% and 13% respectively of the global share. Notably, India's spending increased by 2.1% from 2019 amid the pandemic.
