World Champion Boxer Claressa Shields To Make MMA Debut In 2021
Two-time Olympic gold medalist boxer Claressa Shields will make her professional debut in mixed martial arts in 2021. The world champion boxer has signed a contract with the Professional Fighters League and targets the 2022 title to become the first woman to win both MMA and boxing titles. Claressa said, "I’m really going to strengthen the things that I’m weak at," and has added she is serious on her decision.

Tokyo Olympics: 18 Test Events To Be Held From March With No Foreign Fans
Olympic Organizing Committee of Tokyo has cleared that no spectators from abroad will be allowed at the test events. The information was provided after the organizers announced to host 18 test events from March to May 2021. The games delivery officer Hidemasa Nakamura said that only some (unspecified number) domestic fans will get entry into the test events. The postponed Tokyo Olympics are slated to begin from July 23, 2021.

South African Swimmer To Face Extended Ban For Doping; May Miss 2020 Olympics
South African swimmer and Olympic gold medalist Roland Schoeman may be unable to take part in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics if he fails to prove the source of the doping. Ronald was handed 1-year ban in May 2019 after he tested positive for GW501516, an illegal drug. But, the World Anti-Doping Agency has now requested the court to extend the ban for up to four years. However, Roland has refuted the accusations.

IOC Chief Urges Vaccination For Players, Spectators Before Tokyo Olympics
International Olympics Committee Chief Thomas Bach stated that contestants and spectators should be vaccinated before attending the Tokyo Olympics. After a meeting with Japanese PM Yoshihide Suga, Thomas said that the measure would protect the people in Japan. He added, "This makes us all very confident that we can have spectators in the Olympics stadium next year." The delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics will begin from July 23, 2021.

Japan Hosts Its First International Gymnastics Event Ahead Of Tokyo Olympics
A four-nation gymnastics test event was held in Japan on November 8, making it the country's first international event since the outbreak of COVID-19. A total of 30 athletes took part in the event: eight participants each from China, Russia and Japan, and only six from the US. The event had 2,000 fans in attendance with strictly adhering to the COVID-19 protocols including PCR tests every morning and no shouting from the fans.

Ex-Australian Swimmer Brenton Rickard Tests Positive For Drugs After 8 Years
Former Australian Olympic swimmer Brenton Rickard on November 6 tested positive for banned substance, furosemide, after a re-analysis was done for the sample collected during the 2012 London Games. The result implies that six Australian swimmers including Rickard, who were part of the men’s 4x100 meter medley team, will lose their bronze medals. Tokyo to Host 32 Athletes For a One-Day International Gymnastics Tournament
The Japan Gymnastics Association (JGA) will host 32 athletes from China, Japan, Russia, and United States on November 8, for a one-day international gymnastics tournament. The Association confirmed that the tournament which is sanctioned by the International Gymnastics Association will be held at Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo.
