SpiceJet Plans To Offer Drone Delivery Service In India

SpiceJet on December 11 announced that it's set to enter the market of drone delivery service, expanding its logistic platform. The service includes delivering vaccines, life-saving drugs, and essential goods to the remote areas of India, reported UNI. Initially, It'll transport payloads of 0-5 kg, 5-10 kg, and 10-25 kg. ''It will change the game for fast and cost-effective logistics in India,'' said Ajay Singh, airline Chairman.

SpiceJet Pilots Land Flight On Wrong Runway At Belgaum Airport

SpiceJet's two pilots were off rostered for landing the flight at the wrong runway on October 24 at Belgaum airport in Karnataka. Reportedly, the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) gave the pass to the pilots to land the aircraft on runway number 26 but the duo made a serious mistake and landed the plane on runway number 08.  Aircraft Accident Bureau (AAIB) will reportedly launch an investigation against the pilots.

Govt Yet To Announce Winner Of Air India Bids

The Department of Investment and Public Asset Management said over a tweet, "Media reports indicating approval of financial bids by Government of India in the AI disinvestment case are incorrect". The panel is yet to finalise a decision after which it will be disclosed to the parties and the public. For now, both Tata Group and SpiceJet remain in the race for the bid to acquire Air India.

Indian Air Travels Slump by 54.84% Compared to Last Year

According to the data from DGCA, a total of 372 lakh passengers have traveled by air from January to July, 2020 which is 54.84% lesser than the number of passengers travelled last year in the same period. The domestic air passenger traffic has reduced by 82.3% to 21.07 lakh in the month of July. IndiGo continues to be the largest carrier with a market share of 60.4% in July.
