In Amit Shah's rally at poll-bound West Bengal's Egra on March 21, Suvendu Adhikari's father and senior Trinamool MP Sisir Adhikari joined the BJP. The 79-year-old MP from Kanthi asserts to have decamped to strive for shielding Midnapore's stature. "Save Bengal from atrocities, we are with you, our family is with you. Jai Siya Ram, Jai Bharat.", declared the freshly inducted patriarch of the Adhikari family.

WB Polls: Mamata Takes Nandigram Seat; Likely To Face Rebel Suvendu

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on March 5 announced to contest the upcoming assembly elections from Nandigram. CM Mamata will vacate her own Bhowanipura seat, which will now be filled in by her Cabinet Minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay. Mamata is now likely to face former TMC leader Shuvendu Adhikari, who has a stronghold in the area. Earlier, Adhikari had claimed to defeat Mamata by 50,000 votes.

TMC Sacks Suvdendu's Father Sisir's Chairmanship From DSDA

Alleging poor performance, Trinamool Congress has removed Suvendu Adhikari’s father Sisir Adhikari from the Chairman post of Digha Sankarpur Development Authority. Additionally, the party has named Sisir’s rival MLA Akhil Giri for the same post. Sisir, whose both sons - Suvendu and Soumendu - had defected TMC in last weeks to join BJP, in a placid remark said, “They can do whatever they want. I am not bothered.”

Known for holding heavy support in West Bengal's Medinipur city, Suvendu had resigned from TMC on December 17. Saradha Group Owner Accuses Leaders From INC, CPM, TMC & BJP Of Scam

In a letter written to the PM and Delhi CM on December 5, Saradha Group owner Sudipta Sen has sought a probe on five politicians for allegedly swindling "huge amounts of money" from him. Bengal: TMC Not To Engage In Further Discussions With Rebel Suvendu

TMC leader Saugata Roy, who was in talks with the party's rebel leader Suvedu Adhikari, stated that there would be no more discussions regarding the latter's return. Earlier, Adhikari has said that it was difficult to work with TMC leaders, just a day after Roy had announced that issues were resolved with the ex-cabinet minister. However, Saugata Roy said the December 1 meeting was successful but Adhikari changed his mind later.
