Editors Guild Urge Release Of Manipuri Journos Booked Under Sedition
Terming the arrests of three Manipuri journalists as a violation of free speech, the Editors Guild of India has demanded their release. Home Ministry Designates 18 Individuals As "Terrorist" Under UAPA
Amending the list under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Home Ministry on October 27 designated 18 more Pakistan-based individuals as "terrorists". The list includes Dawood's top-aide Chhota Shakeel, Bhatkal Brothers of Indian Mujahideen and 26/11 suspect Sajid Mir among others. Student Activist Umar Khalid Under Judicial Custody Till October 22
Activist Umar Khalid, arrested under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), has been sent to judicial custody till October 22, by a Delhi Court. Khalid had been under police custody for his alleged involvement in the February Delhi Riots. Khalid's lawyer Trideep Pais requested the Magistrate to provide security to Khalid since there is a threat of an attack. The court also permitted Khalid's parents to visit him during this time.
