Ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, a BJP delegation has requested the Election Commission to deploy only Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to ensure "peaceful" polls. As a recent addition, the two-time legislator from Diamond Harbour Dipak Haldar has joined the growing list of dissenting and abdicating Trinamool Congress MLAs. While explaining his resignation ahead of the polls, Haldar has slammed the TMC leadership and alleged that the party incapacitates him towards working for the masses. Though speculations are on the rise, there is no clear information on Haldar joining BJP.

Ahead of the assembly elections in West Bengal, Abbas Siddiqui, a notable Muslim cleric proffered a new political party – the Indian Secular Front. Siddiqui, an active detractor of the ruling Trinamool Congress, claimed that his party endeavours for social justice and constitutional democracy. Abbas, who belongs to the Siddiqui family, recently met AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi, who confessed earlier to contest in state polls.
