China Successfully Lands Zhurong Rover At Mars' Utopia Planitia Site
The China National Space Administration, on May 15, successfully landed its Zhurong rover on Mars at the southern Utopia Planitia site. The 240-kg solar-powered rover consists six major instruments to scrap data on potential water-ice deposits, weather, topography and geology of Mars in the initial 90-day mission. Launched under Tianwen-1 in July 2020, the successful touchdown marks China's first independent interplanetary expedition.
