AIFF Appoints Former Player Kalyan Chaubey As Its President
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) appointed former player Kalyan Chaubey as its first president in its 85-year history. Appointed on September 2, Chaubey will be beating the legendary Bhaichung Bhutia in the election for the top post. The 45-year-old Chaubey, a former goalkeeper with Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, won 33-1. The election was held after the Supreme Court approved the AIFF elections.

AIFF Announces Football Body Elections Date, Nominations Begin From Aug 25
After the Supreme Court announced All India Football Federation (AIFF) to continue with the daily management and permitted elections, the association announced dates. As per sources, AIFF football; body elections are scheduled on September 2, whereas the nominations will begin from August 25. Furthermore, the scrutiny of the nominations will be done on August 28. The final list of nominations will be put on August 30.

SC Revokes AIFF Ban Permitting Federation Election, Issues Orders

FIFA-AFC Holds Joint Meeting With Stakeholders, Discusses AIFF Elections
A joint team of the FIFA and AFC met with the stakeholders of Indian Football on June 22. During the meeting the delegation emphasized on the need of a time frame regarding the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) elections and compliance with its statutes in the amended constitution. Kanai Sarkar Passes Away: AIFF Condoles Death of Former Indian Goalkeeper
The All India Football Federation mourned the death of former Indian national team goalkeeper Kanai Sarkar, on December 30. "It's really sad to hear that Mr. Sarkar is no longer among us," said Praful Patel, AIFF President. In September 1971, he made his national team debut against USSR and was also a part of the Bengal Team. He won various trophies such as the Durand cup, and the Santosh trophy.

Football: Bhaichung Bhutia Says Indian Football is Getting Better
Former football team captain Bhaichung Bhutia said that Indian football was getting better with every game played. Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee Bhutia told AIFF TV that strengthening football at grassroots level was crucial to provide quality players for national team.
