B'luru Civic Body Starts Mobile Schools For School Dropouts In Slums

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike will start mobile schools ‘Schools on Wheels’ for school dropout children from April 19. In this regard, two Karnataka HC justices flagged off 10 customized buses on April 17. Provided by Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation, the buses will ensure basic knowledge to Hosakerahalli and Doddagolarahatti slums children while preparing them for next academic year. Bengaluru: Private Players To Bid For Tackling Fire, Odour At Landfills

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will release tenders for private companies to fight fires and odours at landfills during the clearing of garbage. The biddings will reportedly be for major sites - Mandur, Mittaganahalli, Bellahali and Bagalur. As per sources, the highest bidders for the tenders will be assigned the mentioned work for six months, wherein they will have to supply 60,000 litre of leachate-managing enzymes.

Bangalore Civic Body Focuses on Waste Management; Collects Rs 75 Lakh In Fines

In a span of five months (June-October), the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has collected Rs 75 lakh in fines from those failing to adhere by waste management rules. Reportedly, the civic body has appointed 250 marshals and uses eight patrol vehicles for this purpose. It has fixed a fine of Rs 1000 for disposing garbage in open places and same amount for failing to segregate the waste.

Karnataka: BBMP To Use App to Identify Stray Dogs Vaccinated Against Rabies

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has collaborated with 'World Wide Vetrenary Sevice' (NGO) to map stray dogs in the city which have been vaccinated against rabies. BBMP will use the latter's mobile app to keep track of the dogs. Officials are directed to take a picture of each dog and update in the app with location coordinates. The project will be started on a trial basis in Herohalli and Nagarabhavi.

Bengaluru: BBMP Launches App To Help Waste Management

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike said the residents of Bengaluru can now use a mobile app to track the auto-tippers, which collect waste from houses. The app will help people to estimate the time of arrival of these vehicles and also lodge a complaint if they do not arrive. BBMP Commissioner said that many projects, including setting up a waste-to-energy plant and compost units, have been taken up for waste management.

Bangalore: Corporator's Residence Raided in Connection with Drug Mafia

In connection with a drug racket in the city, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided the residence of Keshavamurthy, a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Corporator. Yashas, the Corporator's son, was issued a notice by the NCB, to appear before them. Reportedly, the NCB has also raided Yashas's house, suspecting his connection with drug peddlers. Reportedly, an FIR accusing 12 people has been filed in connection with drug mafia.
